Ullapool's little fest in the west
Every
year, at around the time of the Autumn Equinox in September, our
little village doubles in population as we entertain 2,000 visitors
to Loopallu.
Ullapool-based promoter Robert
Hicks organises the smallest, friendliest rock festival on the
calendar, with an intoxicating mix of the best Highland bands with
a few bigger name headliners thrown in. Franz Ferdinand, The Stranglers
and Hayseed Dixie have all performed here, and this year it was
the turn of The Levellers and Echo & the Bunnymen to mix it
with The Red Hot Chilli Pipers, the Vatersay Boys and others.
There's
a flavour of the 2008 festival in the three photo albums below (opens
in a new window).
